The Crane Axle GM Dana 60 Front Steer Knuckle Kit is designed for builders creating custom front steering axle assemblies for rock crawlers, Ultra4 race vehicles, tube chassis builds, and heavy-duty off-road applications. Built around proven Dana 60 kingpin steering geometry, this system combines interlocking high steer arms, chromoly knuckles, and kingpin hardware into a complete front steer package engineered for steering precision, durability, and serviceability under extreme use.

The interlocking keyed steering arm system transfers steering forces directly into the knuckle body instead of relying solely on mounting hardware. This improves steering rigidity while reducing stress on fasteners during large tire loading and hydraulic steering use. Designed to work with axle tube outside diameters ranging from 3.125" to 3.5", this kit offers flexibility for both fabricated and OEM-based axle housings while maintaining compatibility with standard GM Dana 60 kingpin service components.

Tech Insight

Front steering axle systems in high-horsepower off-road vehicles are subjected to extreme steering loads, repeated impact forces, and suspension articulation that quickly expose weaknesses in conventional steering arm mounting systems. Traditional high steer systems often rely entirely on mounting fasteners to absorb steering load, increasing the risk of movement and hardware fatigue.

The Crane Axle interlocking steering arm system uses precision-machined keyed engagement surfaces to transfer steering loads mechanically into the knuckle body itself. Combined with 8620 chromoly construction, this creates a stronger and more rigid steering platform capable of handling the demands of large tires, hydraulic assist steering, and aggressive off-road use while maintaining serviceability through standard GM Dana 60 components.
