Blower Buggy

Who has not dreamed of an 800 horsepower trail rig?  I mean really, can you imagine ripping up the hills in the Southeast with such a machine?  The Blower Buggy is the premier high horsepower, bulletproof buggy in the country.  Designed in house for Nazir Adam, this beast contains all the right stuff for launching up the slick trails of his home trails in Harlan Kentucky.

Of course here at Wide Open Design we take our builds seriously so we took the best-of-the-best parts on the market and combined them with a highly modified version of our proven UBKON trail ridding chassis.  This buggy has BIG horsepower starting with a 427 cubic inch Delk Performance LS7 with a Whipple 3.3 liter root style blower!  After we built the motor, we shipped it to MAST Motorsports for electronics and a tune.  This motor lays down a whopping 830 hp and 870 ft lb of torque!

Putting that much horsepower and torque to use requires only the best of the best in drivetrain components.  There is no reason to have 830hp if you can’t let it eat!  Backing up the massive blown LS7 is a Culhane built TH400 and an Atlas II transfer case.

The only axles that have proven time and time again to stand up to the abuse of Southeast “rock bouncing” are the 2.5 ton Rockwell.  These “Rocks” are stuffed with the best parts from Ouverson Engineering; 2” gun-drilled shafts, Violator u-joints, 8-lug wheels with brakes and stud girdles.  The rolled tube chassis rests on a set of 2” Fox coilover bodies and air bumps all around.  8” of up travel was designed into this chassis. This is no small feat considering how low the ride height is and that we are using top-loader axles.  Links are made out of 2.25” 7075 aluminum with 1.25” QA1 rod ends.
Only Super Swampers can take the abuse this buggy will be dealt.  44” TSLs are wrapped around MRW beadlocks with Staun inner locks and custom Wide Open Design rings.
We invite you to check out the gallery below to see all the details we have included in this build.  Make note of the double stacked frame, 2” primary custom headers, 3.5” exhaust, custom dash and blower cage.

Wide Open Design is about function and form.  Having a great looking buggy that works is what we strive for.
